Food Stop ~ Manila’s Place

Just the other day, my friends and I went to Manila’s Place in Gurney Plaza for lunch and NO! folks... I don’t think they serve and Manila Cuisine there. hehe... It’s a western food Restaurant and it’s a nice place for you to relax and enjoy a good meal. It has a great ambiance and the food was pretty good too. They have set lunch from RM16.00 up to RM32.00. Their set lunch comes with soup + main course + drink either hot or cold and dessert. For starter, they served a bowl of creamy mushroom soup, a mini bun and butter. The mushroom soup was very nice and creamy and when you dip the bun in it... fuhyoo!

I managed to take some photos while I was there.

~ From where we sit

~ Green Tea Vivien had. Now I can never eat something already hot and wash it down with a hot drink pulak. macam tak kena jer plak. hehehe... So, I had Iced Peach Tea and it was very cool… very nice.

~ Mushroom Soup in a Bun @ RM11.90. (p/s : This is not the mushroom soup that came with the set lunch ok!. Hehehe… Kak Lily had this mushroom soup and look! You can even eat the bowl :) hahaha…

~I had this Rosemary lamb for main course and it cost RM26.90. Now I never liked lamb before cos I think they have this weird grassy smell (uwek!). And even though when you have a piece of it in your mouth, you can still smell it and it taste like you’re eating dried grass. But ever since I tasted Kak Lily’s marinated BBQ lamb… I tell ya, I loved it on the spot. Now I eat lamb sometimes. Depends on how good it is and only if it doesn’t smell like rumput kering. Well, This Rosemary Lamb I had was absolutely delicious. No rumput kering smell and the texture were tender and juicy. And the portion was a lot. They served 3-4 pieces of sliced lamb shoulder. Banyak tue even for me to finish it. I had to give 2 pieces away to my friends to enjoy. Sigh! hehehe. Tak maul ah tamak betul tak?

~Azu had this Lemongrass Chicken served with rice and the set lunch was only RM16.90. Looks good!

~Nas had this Salmon Fish for RM32.00. Kinda expensive if you ask me for 2 piece fish fillet. Kalu nak makan ikan, masak jer kari ikan lagi best :p I had a small piece and well, it’s so so only lah. Nothing to shout about. hehe! Sorry Nas, you know I dont like eating fish.

Overall… I had a good time. The food was good and we all left with a full happy tummy :) Will I go there again? hm... I surely will ;)

P/s : Will post about my BBQing next time. Dont have the photos with me right now :p

Juadah Berbuka Puasa

Ramadan has been a hectic month for me. Hardly have enough rest even on weekends. It's been a rush. Fuh! Well, I wanted to post some photos of the dishes we had for buka puasa. Hm.. sorry la tak sempat nak post semua. At least a few here pun ok lah kan.
Sis,
Sorry aaa... bagi you terliur ek? hehe. This is just a tiny part ler :p Maybe this will help you rush home soon ek. hehehe. Miss you so much! wish you were here with us. Love you sis.

~Buah Kurma. Ramadan is kinda incomplete with out dates. I love these dates mum bought at Kings Street. RM18 a kilo. Taste sweet and delicious.

~Kuih muih. Now its 50 cent each. Gosh!

~ I bought this pasembur at Jelutong Rd. Mamak nie jual kat sebelah kedai runcit, just opposite the 7-Eleven. Well, one thing's for sure. I won't definitely buy from him again. Not only it is expensive, the taste is not up to my expectation too. Pasembur should be well... pasembur. Nie rasa macam masuk angin jer. I think some of this ingredients were yesterday leftovers cos you can know when it is recooked. He had the ingredients displayed so nicely and it was tempting, but the taste is totally out. The gravy is quite ok though. It's nothing compared to the Pasembur at Edgechumbe Road.. Hm.. lepas raya nie sure nk pe :p

~ I did this. hehehe. So, MUST take photo. Taste crunchy and delicious

~ Kari Ikan. Dunno when mum cooked this but it was goood. Sometimes, just terlupa to take picture.

~Daging Masak Lada Berempah. One of the many dishes mum cooked for 1st day of buka puasa. There was nasi Briyani too. But I forgot to take picture of it :p

~Ayam Masak Merah Buah Kurma. Mum cooked this on 1st day of raya. Sigh! I wanted to post it earlier and tell you guys all about our 1st day of buka puasa.

Yummy Treats

Lama benor tak post about my favourite food and interesting places to mum mum. Busy la dengan kerja.

Coffee with Zaini
My dear ‘YB’ friend is a very busy man especially now that he’s working on a project to open his own bridal boutique. Hooray!!! for Mr. Zaini for his accomplishment and his new business. Well, since he has been so busy, I had to practically paksa him to join me for an awesome cup of coffee at The Coffee Bean. We went to the one at Gurney Hotel. Great place to hang out and go wireless and that was exactly what we did. Zaini bought himself a new cool Dell notebook so we just lepak and check out some interesting websites. Hm... Jealous betul tengok orang-orang notebook nie going wireless :p
I had the usual Mocha Latte while Zaini asked me to recommend my favourite... So, I ordered for him the “Xtreme Belgian Chocolate Ice Blended”... Sounds explosive right. Hehehe.. Now, I would have enjoyed that cool refreshing drink probably cos I’m used to strong coffee. But quite unfortunate for Zaini, he did enjoy the drink at the beginning but it actually left him with some ‘side effects’ when he got home! Aiyoo... hehehe… Sorry ya Zaini. Lain kali kita jangan ge situ dah ok! Hehe… I would love to post some pictures we took at coffee bean but my face was looks like macam kena sengat lebah. So, tak mau post la… But I can post this beautiful picture of Kopi Susu Ice my sisters and I had at Merlin Nasi Kandar. Sedap ooo… Kira boleh la…

FoodLoft
For those of you who haven’t heard of this place call Foodloft before, well… you should check it out. One of the best things about this place is that they serve a HALAL food. They have Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Nyonya and my most favourite… Western Food. It’s located at 4th Floor, Gurney Plaza and it a perfect place to relax and have a decent meal with family and friends. I just love the ambiance and the whole atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. Kak Zai introduced this place to me. We went there for dinner after a hard day at work and sat by the window overlooking the sea. We were there just in time to catch the sunset and the view was absolutely breathtaking. Hehehe... Kak Zai said she wants to belanja her adik comey nie. So, this adik comey pun order la apa-apa yang dia suka. Pantang dibelanja la kak. Tapi don’t worry, i’m not this greedy with friends, only family members! Kak Zai… I love you babe!

~ Check out the sunset… love it.

~ Spaghetti Marinara is a must try… banyak bahan-bahan. Got udang, sotong and siput-siput la and the portion is quite generous too :) Price : RM17.90

~ If you ask me… I would say this is chicken chop. But they named it something long and I can’t remember what it’s called. But it was sure tasty. As for the corn, I found out that you can actually change it to fries if you don’t like the corn. It’s not that I don’t like corn, how to eat wey?? using folk and knife?? If you ask me, corn is something you grab and eat thing la. Betul tak? And not to forget, you can even ask for that extra mushroom gravy. Yummy! $$ - RM17.90

~ Yummy Banana ice blended and green apple smoothie.

~ Something we ordered not value for money. And it taste so so only. This is the Japanese prawn tempura with soy sauce. Nothing special about this dish. Taste like udang goreng tepung cucur pisang. That’s all… and it cost RM17 something.

Roti Bangali & Fish Curry
Don’t be surprised if I say that this is one of the best combinations you can ever taste and one of my favourites. You can have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply if you’re hungry. Hehehe, our you can even have roti and kari ikan if your budget for the month lari abit. You just gotta love them right!

Nasi Kandar Merlin

I’ve wrote a post before about the yummy, mouth-watering Merlin Nasi Kandar. Don’t get fancy after you hear the name :p It’s not like those huge chains of Nasi Kandar restaurants we have now. It’s just an old pre-war corner house and it’s located at the end junction of Union Street. Here at Merlin, the variety of curries and dishes is limited, but each has its unique exquisite taste. The curries are tasty and you can feel the spiciness in it. Whereas at these huge chains of restaurants, there are too much variety of dishes and it all taste the same… what I would call as a ‘Packed curry powder”. I don’t favour nasi kandars that much but I would say, Merlin Restaurant is one of the best Nasi Kandar Stall in Penang. They do open for lunch too but usually the placed with be packed with office folks and bankers from Maybank, CIMB, Affin nearby.
If you really want to taste the Original Nasi Kandar prepared in the old fashioned way, then you have to try it out.

I went there yesterday for breakfast. Yes! I’m guilty. But who can resist the delicious curries and dishes served hot in the morning. I prefer to go for breakfast, there are less crowd and the curries are freshly prepared.

Sis had Nasi with Ikan bawal goreng, telur bawang and bendi... See, she can't wait until I take the photos. hehehe

I had (ehem..) Nasi with ayam masak ros, telur rebus goreng and bendi.. Really delicious. And I washed it down with a good Teh Ais :p

It's a must try.

Roti Canai Telur Mata & Ayam Masak Kicap

Well, here you go. My first update about my favourite food spot. Hehe… Take a visit to this website that has inspired me :p - http://www.malaysiabest.net

I went for breakfast yesterday at eerr… ??? (Gosh! I can’t remember the name) I know, eat where also I forgot already.. :p I'm sure most of us will usually just zoom in without looking at the name. Right? :p Anyway, this Kedai Nasi Kandar is where the old Mydin store used to be and It’s just right opposite the Kapitan Nasi Kandar Restaurant At Jalan Kapitan Keling. It’s one of my favourite breakfast spot. The Food is great and the service is good too. Maybe because we kinda go there often and the workers there actually know us already. Usually Kak Shida and I will go there for breakfast during the weekdays before I send her off to work. Hehe! Always got time. As long as I reach office before 9am :p
The restaurant is newly opened so the place is quite clean. It's spacious too and there's also an area which is closed and air conditioned.

Here’s what I had. You really must try the Ayam Masak Kicap. Very Very delicious. The kuah is thick and tasty.

And I had my Ayam Masak Kicap with Roti Canai with Telur mata
A good food to fill your stomach.
